Belief in Predestination - Four Principles
Page 11
With regard to belief in Predestination, it involves belief in four things:
First: Belief that Allah has known what happened and what will happen; the affairs, sustenance, the lifetime span, and deeds of everyone and that Allah's Knowledge encompasses all things.
Verily, Allâh is the AllKnower of everything.
that you may know that Allâh has power over all things, and that Allâh surrounds all things in (His) Knowledge.
Second: The belief that Allah recorded everything He predestined, as He (may He be Praised) states:
We know that which the earth takes of them (their dead bodies), and with Us is a Book preserved (i.e. the Book of Decrees).
and all things We have recorded with numbers (as a record) in a Clear Book.
Know you not that Allâh knows all that is in the heaven and on the earth? Verily, it is (all) in the Book (AlLauhalMahfûz). Verily that is easy for Allâh.
Third: You must believe in the Will of Allah. The belief that Whatever He wills, will be and that which He does not, will not be. Allah (may He be Praised) states:
Verily, Allâh does what He wills.
Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be!" and it is!
And you cannot will unless (it be) that Allâh wills the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
Fourth: You must believe that Allah created all things and that there is no Creator nor Lord except He. Allah (may He be Praised) states:
Allâh is the Creator of all things, and He is the Wakîl (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian) over all things.
O mankind! Remember the Grace of Allâh upon you! Is there any creator other than Allâh who provides for you from the sky (rain) and the earth? Lâ ilâha illâ Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). How then are you turning away (from Him)?
